Filipinos are a proud nation.

In fact, we always feel happy whenever someone from our country finds success, and we can’t just stop feeling that signature “PINOY PRIDE.”

As a tribute to the countless Filipinos both local and around the globe, here are a handful of Filipinos that you can be proud of

1. Manny Pacquiao


No “Pinoy Pride” list is complete without him. Having been declared as a “Fighter of the Decade,” as well as the only eight-division world champion, Manny’s boxing genius cannot be denied.

Although he has experienced some rather lackluster fights recently, he has since returned to form thanks to a knockout to Lucas Matthysse and a dominant win against Adrien Broner.

Truly something we Filipinos can be proud of.

2. Brilliante Mendoza


The infamous indie director has been a darling of France’s Cannes Film Festival, thanks to his movies that shows the gritty reality of living in the Philippines.

Over the span of his 14-year career, he has collected numerous awards and recognition from all around the globe, and has even received a Knight of the Order of Arts and letters by the French Minister of Culture.

3. Pocholo Gonzales



Known as the “VoiceMaster of the Philippines,” Pocholo Gonzales’ face may be unrecognizable at first, but the moment he speaks, you’ll instantly know that you’ve heard him before.

That is because he is a fixture in the country’s voice acting industry, and have provided multiple voice work on numerous shows in the Philippines.

But he’s not just a talented actor, he is also a big advocate of empowering other pinoys through his voice acting workshop. The workshop was established for Filipinos who took a keen interest in developing their voice acting talents.

4. Allan Pineda Lindo aka apl.de.ap


Famous for being a member of the hip-hop/pop group “The Black Eyed Peas,” Allan Pineda Lindo or apl.de.ap is a Grammy Award-winning artist that has used his influence to help other Filipinos.

He is a current talent coach in “The Voice Philippines,” after being convinced by his groupmate will.i.am, who is also a coach for “The Voice UK.”

He has setup various charitable groups to help communities and children in the Philippines. He also strived to improve the education situation of the country, and has formed a foundation for it.

5. Ben Cayetano

You may not know him much, but his achievements are something to behold.

Ben Cayetano is an American politician, who has truly Pinoy roots. He previously served as the fifth governor of the State of Hawaii, and one of the few Filipinos who managed to get elected in a post.
