Charlize Theron, Allison Janney, and More Join MGM’s Animated ‘Addams Family’ Movie
The all-star cast also includes Chloe Grace Moretz, Bette Midler and many more.
It’s all set! The voice cast of MGM’s animated comedy “The Addams Family” has been revealed. Oscar Isaac and Charlize Theron will be the voices behind the iconic parents, Gomez and Morticia Addams, respective. Meanwhile, the children, Wednesday and Pugsley Addams, will be voiced by Chloe Grace Moretz and Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard, respectively.
Other members of the cast include Nick Kroll as Uncle Fester, Allison Janney to voice Margaux Needler, the family’s archnemesis, and the one and only Bette Midler, who will play as Grandmama.
The animated action-comedy will revolve around the creepy family as they face with a crafty reality-TV host all during their preparation of an arrival of their extended family for a major celebration, Addams-style.
The movie will be directed by Sausage Party filmmaker Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan from Matt Lieberman’s screenplay, which is based on Charles Addams’ cartoon series. Meanwhile, this will be produced by Vernon along with Gail Berman, via her shingle The Jackal Group, and Alex Schwartz. Then, the executive producers are Andrew Mittman, Kevin Miserocchi and Joe Earley, and Tabitha Shick will be overseeing the project on behalf of the studio.
“Greg and I have always been a fan of the Addams Family in past versions, so when we set out to make this movie, we were excited to do something new,” said Vernon in a statement. “With that in mind, I drew from the brilliantly original Charles Addams New Yorker cartoons for the look of the film and decided to tell the story of how Gomez and Morticia meet, find their house and start their family.”
“This unique approach is what drew me in to direct the film. The reimagining also extends to the stellar cast we’ve put together who will each bring their own spin to our film that will appeal to longtime fans of the Addams and introduce them to a new generation,” Vernon added.
