2-Time NBA Champion Pau Gasol Notches Historic Triple Double
San Antonio Spurs’ Pau Gasol has just notches the 10th triple-double of his historic NBA career.
Though it may be surprising given Gasol’s skill set that this is only his 10th triple double, it still doesn’t make it any less historic as the two-time NBA champion became the 5th person over 37 years old to ever accomplish such feat.

According to Clutch Points, during the game versus the Sacramento Kings, the Spanish big man recorded 14 points, 11 rebounds and a season-high 10 assists to garner a victory. You have to admit, that although a triple double has become easy to achieve in this new era of NBA, hitting double digits in three stat categories at 37 years old is an incredible feat.
Pau Gasol has always been known for his versatility. During his early years in the NBA, where big men were either dominant post scorers or hulking rebounders or shot blockers, he along with fellow European Dirk Nowitzki, defied the archetype.
He proved to be a star-caliber player during his years as a Memphis Grizzly, where he carried the team for a handful of seasons. But it was not until he arrived at the Los Angeles Lakers where he truly blossomed to an All Star-caliber player.
Though relegated as a second scoring option behind the legendary Kobe Bryant, the Spaniard still proved that he’s an important piece of the Lakers puzzle as he helped Bryant win two more NBA championships. Although he struggled during his later years with the purple and gold, he managed to find resurgence during his time with the Chicago Bulls.
And now in his twilight years with the Spurs, Gasol proved that he has plenty left in the tank at 37. With Kawhi Leonard absent, Gasol was more than happy to also serve as the team’s playmaker during the game against the Kings.
The effort proved to be effective, as he netted 10 assists – a season high. Gasol continues to prove, that despite limited minutes, he is still more than able to produce stellar numbers when the opportunity arises.
