LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers Steam Rolls The Portland Trailblazers, LeBron Moving Up to 5th In All-Time Scoring

LeBron James is on a roll.

During the game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Portland Trail Blazers, James proved that he can still takeover games when he needs to – breaking an important record in the process.

As reported by the Sydney Morning Herald, LeBron passed Wilt Chamberlain for fifth place, on NBA’s overall scoring list, when he finished the game with 31,425 total career points. In addition to a magnificent scoring performance, The King also added 10 rebounds and dished out 9 assists, just one assist shy of his 75th triple-double.

Many hailed this as LeBron’s best performance in a Lakers uniform – a very symbolic thing, as Wilt Chamberlain is a known Laker. It is also interesting to note, that five of NBA’s six top scorers have suited up for the Lakers, with James the latest addition to the franchise’s glorious legacy.

Deadspin noted that due to the team’s early losses, many thought LeBron was being too passive and although his performance is statistically up to par to his usual productivity, he has yet to have a memorable game – until last night.

James blitzed the Trailblazers from 1st to 4th quarter, never allowing them to recover and retake the lead.

Portland’s Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum tried to keep the game competitive, scoring 31 and 23 points apiece.

However, by the time the third quarter arrived, the Lake-show was in full force and the home team never got the game close – thanks to the King’s amazing performance.

This loss from the Lakers also marks Portland’s first road loss against this team since 2013, ending the nine-game streak.

Of course, LeBron would not win this on his own, with his team also contributing significant numbers.

Center JaVale McGee scored 20 points, while third-year forward Brandon Ingram added 17 points.

With the Lakers winning 6 out of their 7 games, they are now on a 4-game winning streak. It seems, the purple and gold have finally found their rhythm.
