2019 Lamborghini Urus: Supercar Performance, In an SUV Body

Is the world ready for a super Sport Utility Vehicle?

If the new Lamborghini Urus is any indication, then yes it is. With performance of a supercar, but body of an SUV, the Urus is the Italian car maker’s attempt to capture the ever growing SUV market.

According to Top Speed, the Urus is not Lambo’s first dance in making an SUV, as it’s attributed to the classic LM002. Released way back in the late 80s, it’s design is reflective of its era that features boxy paneling. However, unlike the LM002, the Urus is as Lamborghini as it gets – not just in the looks department.

Notable car pundits describe the new SUV as “behaving” or rather, performing, like what a Lambo should.

To draw you a picture, the super SUV is equipped with a turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine that produces 650 horsepower. It’s equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission, and can reach a top speed of 190 miles per hour or 305 kilometres per hour. We keep on saying it’s fast, and we gave you numbers.

But to really give you how fast it can go, let’s just say that it can go 0 to 60 in under 4 seconds – 3.6 seconds to be exact.

And with great speed comes with a great price tag. If you’re wondering how much it costs, well, it’s currently priced at $200,000.

Now that we know what it can do, does the Urus have a place in the market? And the answer is a resounding yes. In fact, it has some competition already in the form of the Bentley Bentayga, which the English luxury car maker claims as the current fastest SUV in the world.

So fast, it can accelerate faster than a Chevrolet Corvette, The Verge reported.

The Lamborghini Urus is great injection of performance in the SUV market. So come 2019, if you have an extra $200,000 lying around, you might as well put yourself now on Lambo’s waitlist.
